Doc.Paris Documentary Film Festival Opens Call for Entries Following Successful Debut

Following a promising inaugural edition in the French capital, the Doc.Paris Documentary Film Festival has officially opened its call for entries for its 2027 edition through FilmFreeway. The festival, which joined the growing Doc.World network this year, now invites documentary filmmakers from around the globe to submit their latest work for consideration.

The first edition, held at the historic Luminor cinema in the heart of Paris, welcomed an enthusiastic audience despite an intense summer heatwave. The programme showcased six award-winning short documentaries and concluded with an engaging discussion featuring filmmaker Morgane Ambre, who shared insights into the making of her film To the Embers. The evening highlighted the festival's ambition to create not only a screening platform but also a space for dialogue between filmmakers and audiences.

With its first edition successfully completed, Doc.Paris is now looking ahead. The festival focuses on independent documentary cinema in all its forms, welcoming feature-length, short, and experimental documentaries from both emerging and established filmmakers. The newly opened submission period marks the beginning of preparations for the second edition, which is scheduled to take place in Paris from 23 to 25 June 2027.

As the newest destination within the international Doc.World network, Doc.Paris aims to provide filmmakers with an intimate theatrical experience in one of Europe's great cultural capitals while celebrating bold, personal, and socially relevant documentary storytelling.
