The 77th Cannes Film Festival is set to open with Quentin Dupieux's highly anticipated "The Second Act," a surreal French comedy starring Léa Seydoux and Vincent Lindon. Produced by Hugo Selignac at Chi-Fou-Mi, the film will premiere out of competition on May 14, coinciding with its release in French theaters.
Known for his absurdist humor, Dupieux's meta movie follows actors caught in a doomed film production. His prolific career, marked by unconventional storytelling, includes hits like "Rubber" and "Deerskin." "The Second Act" marks his Cannes debut in the out-of-competition section.
The premiere will feature a star-studded red carpet, with French cinema luminaries who've previously worked with Dupieux, including Alain Chabat, Jean Dujardin, and Adèle Exarchopoulos.
With Greta Gerwig presiding over the jury, the Cannes Film Festival promises a lineup of cinematic treasures, to be revealed by festival chief Thierry Fremaux on April 11.
