The second edition of Wunderground Film Festival unfolded from May 5 to June 1, 2025, at the unique Verbeke Foundation—where art, nature, and experimentation meet in one extraordinary landscape.

This year, the festival presented 58 films across a wide range of genres and formats. From the absurd to the poetic, from raw movement to pure image, each film invited the audience into a world where cinema becomes a sensory, emotional, and immersive experience.

At Wunderground, stories don’t need to be explained—they are meant to be felt.

“Films are like dreams, only while awake. They have their own logic, their own rhythm. You don’t need to understand them with your head—you need to feel them.”— Curator & filmmaker Mieke Daneels

What Makes Wunderground Unique

Wunderground is not your typical film festival. It’s a living dialogue between cinema, contemporary art, and the natural environment.

Films are screened in unconventional spaces—between sculptures, installations, and the wild beauty of the Verbeke Foundation. This setting transforms each screening into an experience that is intimate, surprising, and deeply resonant.

Here, new voices are heard. New forms are explored. And risk is embraced as a creative force.
