The trailer has been released for Deux rives (Distant Shores), a deeply personal documentary from French filmmaker Thibault Verneret, exploring family ties, imprisonment, and the possibility of reconciliation.

In this intimate 58-minute film, Verneret turns his camera toward his older brother, Guy, who was once convicted of drug trafficking in French Guiana. Moving between present-day conversations and memories preserved in Guy’s prison diary, the documentary explores the distance that has grown between the two brothers and their attempts to reconnect. As painful memories surface, the film reveals the lasting impact of incarceration while allowing its central figure to remain complex and enigmatic.

Following its world premiere at Visions du Réel 2025, Deux rives has travelled the international festival circuit, including selections at What the Doc! Film Festival in Thailand and CinéMartinique Festival in France. The film recently received the Best Documentary Feature Film award at the 2026 Amsterdam Independent Film Festival.

The newly released trailer offers audiences an introduction to this intimate exploration of brotherhood, memory, and the enduring traces of the past.
