Somerville International Film Festival Announces 2024 Award Winners

The Somerville International Film Festival returned this past weekend, showcasing an eclectic selection of independent films from the United States and around the world or as Boston Magazine called it “fresh cinematic visions”. Dedicated to inspiring, motivating, and recognizing emerging talent, the festival was held in the vibrant Davis Square neighborhood at The Rockwell.


Selected from a multitude of entries, this year's official lineup included 25 local and international films. The Somerville International Film Festival is proud to announce the award winners of its 2024 edition:


Best Narrative Feature Film:

Daughter of the Sun (Canada) by Ryan Ward


Best Documentary Feature Film:

Don't Forget To Leave (United States) by Bill Fulkerson


Best Narrative Short Film:

The Heart of Texas (United States) by Gregory JM Kasunich


Best Documentary Short Film:

Piblokto (United States) by Anastasia Shubina, Timofey Glinin


Best Animated Film:

Furrie (France) by Lucie Grannec


Best Experimental Film:

Say Something (United States) by Agustina Aranda


Best Underground Film:

Slower Animals (United States) by John Christopher Kelley
