Emma McIntyre Wins SQIFF 2026 Best Scottish Short and Receives The Tarkovski Grant
Scottish filmmaker Emma McIntyre has won the SQIFF 2026 Best Scottish Short Award for Did I Feel It? and has also been named the recipient of The Tarkovski Grant.
Directed by McIntyre, Did I Feel It? is a 12-minute creative documentary reflecting on surgery, recovery and the energies involved in living with lifelong disabilities.

The film draws on a recent period of convalescence while opening a wider perspective on the complexity and expansiveness of queer disabled lives. Through an intimate and personal approach, McIntyre invites the audience to consider experiences of the body, care and recovery that are often overlooked or simplified.
The award was presented as part of the 2026 edition of the Scottish Queer International Film Festival (SQIFF), where The Tarkovski Grant was introduced as an additional recognition for the winner of Best Scottish Short.
As a recipient of The Tarkovski Grant, McIntyre will receive complimentary submission fee waivers to an international network of participating film festivals, helping Did I Feel It? continue its journey beyond SQIFF and reach new audiences internationally.
Established in 2015, The Tarkovski Grant has supported more than 6,000 independent filmmakers by creating further opportunities for their work to travel across the international festival circuit.
The collaboration with SQIFF reflects a shared commitment to supporting distinctive independent voices and extending that support beyond the moment of a festival award.
With Did I Feel It?, Emma McIntyre becomes the first SQIFF recipient of The Tarkovski Grant, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the film’s festival journey.
