Boston Short Film Festival and Taiwan Film Festival of Boston to Co-Present "Family in Focus: A Collection of Short Films & Forum"

Boston, MA – The Boston Short Film Festival (BSFF) is proud to announce its first-ever collaboration with the Taiwan Film Festival of Boston (TFFB) to co-present Family in Focus: A Collection of Short Films & Forum during the 7th annual Taiwan Film Festival of Boston. This special screening and forum will take place on Sunday, September 21, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at AMC Causeway 13.

Rooted in shared values to celebrate exceptional short filmmaking and diverse storytelling, this collaboration brings together three powerful short films that explore themes of family:

• My Sister

• Cry Me Through Hell

• Moment of Choice

The short film My Sister captures the quiet tension of growing up, as Hsiao-Chun prepares to leave her childhood home—and the younger brother who constantly torments her—on the eve of her 18th birthday. Cry Me Through Hell takes a surreal turn as a hell messenger visits a film set to resolve a bizarre case: a dead man stuck in limbo because his daughter has yet to cry for him. In Moment of Choice, Anne sits in an OB-GYN clinic wrestling with a life-altering decision—whether to terminate an unplanned pregnancy for a job opportunity abroad or stay in Taiwan to raise a child alone—only to find that the deeper fear she must face lies within herself. 

All films will be presented with English subtitles.

Following the screening, the audience is invited to stay for a post-screening forum featuring a live discussion with director Yung-Han Chang, whose film Moment of Choice.

This event marks a meaningful partnership between two of Boston’s leading film organizations dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices and connecting communities through cinema.
